SO MANY COUNTRIES, PEOPLES, HISTORIES, CULTURES….ONE EUROPE!

Europe….hmm!  When all the pieces of the puzzle are put together in my head, I come to the conclusion that it is a continent where so many cultures, people and their histories are combined together.

I have never considered Europe as one unit; it was just a word to me because I have never felt I was a part of that continent, a part of something that may open the gate to greater beauties, people and cultures.

As for today, today I feel so close, I feel like realizing all of my dreams under the flag of the united Europe, sensing life in each and every corner of this paradise on Earth.  Step by step, disputes among nations are decreasing; old wounds are healing with war hatches being buried and cultures reuniting, with customs becoming more alike.  I want my wishes to come true in one place: drinking champagne in France, sensing antique scent in Greece, dancing flamingo in Spain or waltzing in Vienna, maybe even marrying some and some Italian.  Europe offers all these possibilities and I, being part of Europe, wish to experience them all.  It is nice to know that my own and favorite country, Croatia, is found among all these European countries.  I would like everyone to see my Adriatic Sea, beauties and charm of our ancient towns, nature intact and warm people.  My country takes part, as well in, creating history of a Europe united, its culture and beauty.

It would be so nice to feel harmony, because every country is special in its own way.  If only Europe could compensate the disadvantages of one country with the advantages of another, we would be invincible, connected with unbreakable bonds.

Still, we do have Europe, taking up such a small piece of the Earth with so much…of everything!  When I close my eyes, I can see immense number of ice lakes in Finland, Netherlands’ tulips, infinite fields of Romania, amazing streets of Paris inspired by artists from different periods, Greek cities veiled by past….and all of it in Europe.

What luck for me to live in a most beautiful part of the world!  I only fear one thing.  I fear that time would fly through so I wouldn’t be able to see all the sights, per into every cave, take a bath in every sea, take coffee in every square.  It is possible that Europe itself won’t allow me, denying me all its beauties.  I could be deprived of water from one of the Alpine springs, taking a ride in a Venetian gondola, close encounter with the clouds on Eiffel tower, the spirit of the ancient Greece on top of Acropolis…

Europe, allow me to meet all your countries, your histories, beauties and cultures because you are mother of all us all.  Allow me to feel like being part, along with my Croatia, small but favorite country, of one big and harmonious community, I dare to it, my Europe!
